When you publish a Power BI dashboard created using DirectQuery from OBIEE data to powerbi.com, you will see an error. This is because Microsoft Power BI does not yet support DirectQuery in Power BI Gateway which allows connecting to on-premise OBIEE data from powerbi.com.
Until then, Users have two options to share dashboards with users:
- You can use Import (instead of DirectQuery) to connect to OBIEE Reports. Such dashboards can be published to powerbi.com and refreshed manually. Please note that you cannot use Import to connect to OBIEE Subject Areas since Power BI desktop does not support the folding of query to OBIEE in Import mode.
- You can create a Power BI template for the dashboard and share it with other users via Sharepoint or alternative sharing tools. You can use both DirectQuery and Import modes to connect to either Subject Areas or Reports.
